Cost Accountant

With customers around the world and the United States, Bitrode is looking for someone to help bring our cost accounting practices to the same high standard as our World-Class Cell, Module, and Pack Battery Testing Equipment.  We offer an extensive product line of battery formation and laboratory test equipment, as well as software tools, battery simulation and manufacturing automation tools appropriate to all battery applications and chemistry structures.  We are looking to find someone to work in our accounting department with manufacturing cost accountant experience and a passion for helping the team improve efficiency and understanding of manufacturing costs.   

In this position, you will report directly to the Controller and provide detailed understanding and data driven suggestions for improvement. We rely on manufacturing costs to quote customers, measure monthly results, and make capital investment and strategy decisions. We also need management information for the costs of materials, supplies, machinery, shipping and other processes in the plant. Help with cash reporting and GL entries for month end close will also be needed.

In order to do this role, you will need to have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• 3+ years of experience in cost accounting
• CGMA, CMA or CPA designation preferred, or equivalent knowledge
• Experience in a manufacturing facility
• Strong data manipulation skills, strong excel skills including pivot tables and be able to learn our system quickly.
• Telling the story of monthly margins to production, sales and senior management and make data driven recommendations for change.

Your responsibilities would include:

• We use a very comprehensive system, but it has not be used to its full potential. We need someone with vision and the ability to communicate and implement the change.
• This will involve working with managers and line workers to agree on goals, timelines, SOP's and measurements. Success will be measured by usable, complete, balanced data. We are seeking one source of truth for costing.
• In the near term, improvements in labor accuracy, including balancing costing to payroll and accurately separating out scrap and rework time. Within a few years overhead allocations will need to be overhauled for a higher degree of precision for pricing and investment decision making.
• You will work with warehouse management to implement cycle counting to a level that external auditors can rely on so that we do not need to shut down for an annual count.
• Monitor costs weekly and provide analysis to the operations team
• Prepare monthly journal entries manually or by initiating electronic creation through our manufacturing ERP program
• Review JEs carefully for anomalies and other inconsistencies
• Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting reports for submission to management
• Conduct inventory reserve analysis on a quarterly basis and generate reports for senior management
• Assist the Controller with suggesting changes to policies or procedures to increase cash flow
• Classify costs accurately
• Generate PPV reports and analyze findings
• Maintain and review the general ledger and reconcile balance sheets
• Analyze costs of raw materials and other supplies and create cost-benefit analyses for changing vendors
• Additional duties will include monitoring cash, supervising the adjusting bank and month end journal entries, depreciation and some month end reporting.
